Question

What do I need to do to apply for an officer position with the Chewelah Police Force?

Answer

First, watch for our advertisments in the local media and the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Comission's website.    We normally accept applications only when we have an opening.

When we are accepting applications, you may pick them up at City Hall.   Your application will be reviewed by the Chewelah Civil Service Commission.   They will create an eligibility list that we will hire from.    If you are selected you will then need to pass several mandatory tests in order to be considered for final hire.

We take great pride in the caliber of officers that we hire.   Our officers not only proctect the city and its citizens they provide a special community service that often goes above and beyond their normal duties.
